Crepe Paper Wreath

Are you looking for a CHEAP and EASY Valentines project?  Here it is.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

AND, all you need is 3 things to make this!

*Crepe Paper- I used about 3/4 of a roll and it made a wreath size about the size of a dessert plate, but you can make one as big as you would like
*A piece of wire
*Embellishments

Your first step is to cut the Crepe paper into about foot long strips.  You don't want to fold the whole roll into one bunch, because if you do that, it will be much harder to punch a hole all the way through.  That is why you take little strips at a time.  Makes the hole punching a lot easier!
So, as I just said, you want to fold the Crepe paper like this:

And when you have that piece folded, punch the wire through the middle like this:

And repeat until you have the whole length of the wire covered
like this:
(I added some white Crepe paper as well)

When you're done, add a few embellishments and a piece of ribbon to hang it from like this:

They would be so cute in any color!!

Home Depot Frame

This really isn't a craft tutorial, just kind of a "look what I did" post.
We recently got our family pictures taken, and of course, I had to order a
picture that is an odd size (16x16) which, in turn, makes the
frames that size way expensive!  It was going to be about $80 for a frame that size.
So,  what do I do?  Head on over to my local Home Depot and buy (and have them cut for me)  a piece of Crown Moulding!  So, add wood glue, some nails and a little paint .......... but not $80 later, more like $18.... here is my finished frame!

Bargain Bin Find

I found these wood triangles in the bargain box at the craft store for
.25 cents each, and thought that I NEEDED to do something with them!
I decided to make them into some cute decor for either a shelf or a table top

They were quite simple to do.  First I
painted the sides with a cream colored craft paint, then I glued some scrapbook paper onto them.  I find that the easiest way to attach scrapbook paper onto wood is with a glue stick!!  You don't need to use any specialized wood glue, just a good ole' glue stick.  It works great!

After I glued the paper on (with a glue stick!!),  I sanded
so that there weren't any rough edges.

Now the fun part.  EMBELLISHING!  I decided to make a "birthday" decoration, complete with a homemade paper candle (i'll post that tutorial in the near future) a "home sweet home" decoration, and, since I have a little boy,
a decoration that wasn't so girly, a more "macho" decoration, which is still cutsie.  Which I glued a little clothes pin to it so that I could either attach one of his pictures to it, or in this picture, I have a little card that says "Cute".

Here they are:

Love Birds Gift Bucket

I saw this bucket at Target, and wanted to make something Valentines-ey (is that a word??) with it.

I got this bucket at Target in their $1 bin for $2.50.
LOVE Target $1 bin!
Used my Silhouette Machine to cut out the vinyl

Tore a few strips of material
that I had from Christmas

And, found this filler shred at
Target as well for .99 cents

Here is the finished product:

A cute basket that can be used in so many ways
-You could take out the filler and put your Valentine's candy in it
-You could put a Valentine's Day gift in the bucket underneath the filler
-It can be just used as a cute decoration
-Display it next to a few cute chunky wooden hearts, as a table centerpiece or, lay the hearts on top of the filler in the bucket
(Kind of the same idea as easter eggs)

Please let me know what you think
and.....share the love!

Thanks!

Craft Store Necklace

I love the necklaces people are wearing that have the big flower on them, but they cost so much money! So I decided to make my own.  I bought all of the items (beads, string, and the flower hair clip) at the local craft store (and used a coupon - LOVE the coupons!) and began beading.  It was so easy, because I just followed my own pattern.  AND, the flower was pre-made!!  It's actually a hair clip/lapel pin that I just pinned on the necklace.  I love it, and I get compliments when I wear it.  The best part?  It cost a fraction of what I would have paid at a boutique!  Try making one for yourself!!  I would LOVE it if you would send me a picture of your necklace creations when you do!  And, trust me, it's an addicting project.  You'll want to make several more variations after you make your first one!  Happy beading!!

A Cute & Easy Idea for Giving Gift Cards

We gave a bunch of gift cards this Christmas,
This is how we gave them.  It's not fancy, but, it's
a simple and cute idea.  I just used my Silhouette Machine
to cut out the tags and write the names on them.

(Did you know that the Silhouette Machine
not only cuts, but can draw as well?)

I then inked the edges a little,
then just punched a hole in the gift cards and used
some material I had and a piece of brown string to tie the tags on.
So easy, but at the same time, it looks really cute.  LOVE it!
